The title of this episode is a reference to the movie To Sir, with Love. This movie title was already parodied twice in the series, in To Surveil With Love and in To Cur, with Love.

In Paris, Lisa is dressed as Madeline, a character from a French book and TV series of the same name.

The characters Cesar and Ugolin previously appeared in Season 1, Episode 11 The Crepes of Wrath. Although they have appeared in other seasons, this is the first since ' The Crepes of Wrath' in which they don't have a minor appearance.
César and Ugolin are the names of two of the main characters from Marcel Pagnol's novel collection "L'Eau des collines" which consists of " Jean de Florette" and " Manon des Sources".
