The episode title is a pun on the film The Parent Trap.
- Which is ironic seeing that Bart and Homer get attached together, rather than seperated.
"Dang Me" by Roger Miller is the song playing on the car radio at the end of the episode.
In addition to the $40 prize for the winning the radio contest, Homer also receives a Blue Oyster Cult medallion. "(Don't Fear) The Reaper" by B.O.C. is also played over the closing credits.
- Judge Constance Harm refers to the reality court show Judge Judy.

Judge Constance Harm indicates she was born male when she tells Bart he reminds her of herself when she was a little boy.
In this episode, Judge Snyder's first name is revealed to be Roy.
As an in-joke, Snake was seen in the Juvenile Courthouse. The writers put him in because the crime he commited was against a child.

Bart and Homer are able to change their clothes despite being tethered together.
It appears that most of Springfield forgot about Homer and Marge being viewed as bad parents before.
