I respect decisions Simpsons staff makes, really, i know it can sound weird, but...why they,instead of bringing a popular previous character to take Edna role, asigned the role to a total new character? Just for having them kicked off the same episode's ending? Just for having a new one in the very vast collection list of guest stars who give voice to a gloryless/sorrowless character? I think it was far easier to bring a previous character again and give them a new chance! Even when i admit and agree with Al statement of not making a permanent teacher (anyways, they could have made very and even pretty few appearanced of the SES), i think that, if they were able to resurrect in-cannon-died characters like Monroe or Riviera, why not making a very and far less hard thing like bringing an already made character? And the ideal one to do it, and just IMO, was Zachary Vaughn, and even if i already know he was drunk and so sent off, for that, he was later shown in the T-Rex's episode as a cameo, showing signs of being okay and disposed to do the job again!
Well, providing and admiting Simpsons strategy, all i ask is for a new episode of him as a teacher, no matter if he is fired again, or an episode dedicated entirely to him as a compensation!!!
