Previous Episode References[]

  • "The Way We Was": The second Chanel dress Marge buys looks similar to the dress she wore at her high school prom.
    • Both episodes have plots kicked off after the family TV breaks.
  • "Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire" and "Lisa's Pony": Lisa's love of ponies
  • "There's No Disgrace Like Home": A Simpson parent (Homer/Marge) wishes the family were functional/high-class
  • "Sweet Seymour Skinner's Baadasssss Song": The Kwik-E-Mart has gas pumps.
  • "Dead Putters Society": Homer gets involved in golf (forcing Bart to compete in mini-golf/challenging Mr. Burns to a game of golf)
  • "Some Enchanted Evening": Marge is so angry that even Maggie is afraid of her.
  • "Treehouse of Horror V": The Simpsons missing out on their own country club welcome party is similar to Homer running screaming out of the reality where his family is wealthy, the kids are well-behaved, Patty and Selma are dead, but no one knows what a doughnut is, only to miss out on doughnuts falling from the sky (which Marge thinks is rain).
  • "Lisa vs. Malibu Stacy": Kent Brockman has a bratty daughter who looks like him (and is voiced by Nancy Cartwright).

Trivia[]

  • According to the DVD commentary, it's mentioned Marge was allowed to say that she had a Chanel dress (both the discounted suit and the second one she bought when the first one was ruined), but they couldn't show the actual name (which is why Marge's fingers covered the label and a tree covered the Chanel storefront).
  • This is the first episode where both the episode writer and director are women.

Goofs[]

Redeyehorse

The horse with red eyes

  • When Marge smiles after Evelyn leaves the Kwik-E-Mart gas station, her lipstick disappears. It reappears when Mr. Burns pulls up.
  • When Lisa is first shown riding the horse, the horse's eye is colored solid red.
