Written by Chris Turner, the book is 466 pages long (including the index) and contains eleven chapters, an introduction, and a foreword by Douglas Coupland. There is a chapter for every member of the family, save for Maggie and the pets.

The cover page of each chapter contains a picture, as well as a quote from the programme, and a quote or song lyric from a real person.
