One Thousand and One Vulgar Marching Band Formations is a book about vulgar marching band formations. The cover of the book says "go beavers".

When Lisa opened the door to the secret room at Springfield Elementary, she was shocked to find only a bookshelf full of banned books there, including One Thousand and One Vulgar Marching Band Formations.

"Springfield was named after Springfield, Oregon," Groening told Smithsonian. In addition to the slang term referencing a part of a woman's anatomy, the formation on the cover may also be a reference to Oregon State University in Corvallis, their mascot is the beaver. Oregon State University is a rival college of the University of Oregon, located in Eugene, just across the highway from Springfield. Every year is a Civil War football game, the Ducks versus the Beavers.
