[edit] Plot

Marge tells Homer that she wants him to do some work around the house and yard. Because of this, Homer takes Bart to the Mom & Pop Hardware store to pick up some supplies. But, instead of buying working equipment he instead buys a D.I.Y barbeque pit. Homer tries to assemble the pit but drops it some wet cement. Homer frantically tries to get the barbeque out of the wet cement before it starts to set but makes things much worse. He gets angry at the barbeque and starts to beat it which bends and deforms it. Homer, thinking he can get his money back, takes it back to the hardware store and is refused a refund. On the way home from the hardware store, the barbeque mess falls out of the wagon after Homer looses control of the car. It falls onto a highway and hits a womans car. The woman, Astrid Weller, gets out of her car and states that his barbeque mess is an artistic masterpiece. After she tracks Homer down, because he ran away, she informs him of this and decides to send it to the Louvre: the American Style museum and it becomes a huge success.

However, Marge soon becomes jealous after Homer becomes an artist and creates more 'masterpieces' because it is what she always wanted to do. Astrid Weller tells Homer that he is going to appear on "Art of America" but, everyone claims his new masterpieces are the same as his first one was.

Homer now needs some inspiration in order to create more art and so, by the advice of Lisa, decides to go to the Springfield Art Museum. But this gives him no ispiration and makes him feel even worse after seeing other artist work and has a nightmare of his art attacking him. Lisa tells Homer about an artist named Christo and how his art was groundbreaking. Homer finds inspiration from this and that night he and Bart open all the fire hydrants in town and cover the drains with doormats and finally give all the animals in the zoo a snorkle. Everyone are very impressed with Homer creating the 'Grand Canals of Springfield'. The episode ends with Homer and Marge sitting down together observing his work
