Joe Frazier (January 12, 1944 – November 7, 2011) was a professional boxer. He appeared as himself in "Brother, Can You Spare Two Dimes?" where he presents Homer with the First Annual Montgomery Burns Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Excellence. Afterwards, he sympathizes with Homer's loss of his couch and depression thereof with his own loss of the World Championship, although he ends up getting into a fight with Barney Gumble after the latter was "riding on him all night," to which he beat Barney effortlessly and punched him in a trash can. Frazier appears again in "Homer's Paternity Coot".
Frazier was diagnosed with liver cancer in late September 2011 and admitted to hospital care. He died on November 7, 2011.
It was originally intended that he lose to Barney in their fight outside Moe's Tavern bar in "Brother, Can You Spare Two Dimes?", but Joe Frazier's son objected, citing that this wasn't the kind of respect the World Champion of Boxing deserved. Frazier is the only man who beat a prime Muhammad Ali, thus winning 1 of 3 of their battles. Frazier is widely regarded as one of the greatest boxers of all times, he was one of the heavyweights in the "golden heavyweight era". He lost his belt to George Foreman, however he fought with incredible heart. He never regained his belt, his son had two championship fights but failed to win the belts one of which resulted in a 20 second knockout by Mike Tyson himself.
Frazier is widely remembered and recognized around the world for having deadliest left hook in history of mankind. He mostly showed his hook off against Muhammad Ali in their first bout Dubbed 'The Fight Of The Century'
