This article is about the guest star. For the character, see Joe Frazier (character).

Joe Frazier (January 12, 1944 – November 7, 2011) was a professional boxer and actor.

On The Simpsons, he guest starred as himself in "Brother, Can You Spare Two Dimes?" and "Homer's Paternity Coot".

Frazier was diagnosed with liver cancer in late September 2011 and admitted to hospital care. He died on November 7, 2011.

Trivia[]

It was originally intended that he lose to Barney in their fight outside Moe's Tavern bar in "Brother, Can You Spare Two Dimes?", but Joe Frazier's son objected, citing that this wasn't the kind of respect the World Champion of Boxing deserved. Frazier is the only man who beat a prime Muhammad Ali, thus winning 1 of 3 of their battles. Frazier is widely regarded as one of the greatest boxers of all time, and was one of the heavyweights in the "golden heavyweight era". He lost his belt to George Foreman, however, he fought with incredible heart. He never regained his belt, and his son had two championship fights but failed to win the belts. One of those fights resulted in a 20 second knockout by Mike Tyson himself.
