Japan (Japanese: 日本), officially the State of Japan (Japanese: 日本国) is a country in East Asia. The capital city is Tokyo, and is also the largest city in the world.
History[]
Japan was the originator of the Osaka Flu epidemic in Springfield (a Japanese worker who was sick with the flu coughed into several packages that were headed for Springfield).[1]
Homer also made a phone call to Japan after finding out his resemblance to Mr. Sparkle, a dishwasher detergent mascot who originated from Japan.[2]
Nelson Muntz represented Japan in the Model U.N. Club.[3]
The Simpson family once visited Japan, ending up losing all their resources. Most of their money was used up to bail Homer and Bart out of jail after an incident during a sumo wresting match where, due to Homer's stupidity, they ended up throwing Emperor Akihito into a washbin for worn mawashi, and the few cash remaining was lost to the wind when Homer made it into an origami. They were then forced to work at the Osaka Seafood Concern to build up the funds necessary for a plane ticket and later to take part in a game show to win tickets back to Springfield. They win after being embarrassed on the show, which is revealed to be the main idea, and get to go home.[4]
Non Canon Appearances[]
"Treehouse of Horror XXVI"[]
A crazy old man (Grampa) in Springfield, Japan, is constantly mocked because every day he drops a perfect doughnut into the ocean with his grandchildren (Bart and Lisa). When asked why he does such things, he says that is because if he doesn't, a huge sea monster will rise and destroy the city. Instead of understanding, they just laugh at him. One day, while he is preparing a donut for his "ritual", he chokes on the toppings and dies. With nobody to drop the donuts, the sea monster, Homerzilla wakes up and destroys the city.
