Ice Cream of Margie (with the Light Blue Hair)
The Haw-Hawed Couple

Trivia[]

  • The episode title is a parody and reference to 1952 musical film I Dream of Jeanie (with the Light Brown Hair).
  • Greta Wolfcastle makes a cameo in this episode.
  • Bart remarks that Otto "totally pimped dad's ride"
  • The song played when Homer's ice cream truck first appears to the children after they complain about the weather being too hot is Money for Nothing by Dire Straits.
  • The segment showing Homer don his ice cream man uniform is a slightly altered reproduction of the opening from Da Ali G Show.
  • In the British 'Channel 4' premiere on December 2, 2006, the continuity announcer says, "Anyone for ice cream? In this weather?". This makes reference to the fact that a few days prior, over three feet of snow had fallen in England, which was the deepest recorded at that time.
  • This episode finished with iPods taking over the world; however, in later episodes, they would be parodied as MyPods.
  • The giant popsicle stick statue of Homer made by Marge is a parody of Michaelangelo's David; notably, the statue holds a doughnut on its left hand.
  • Missy Elliott's Get Ur Freak On is played in this episode.
  • Homer suggests Marge make a popsicle stick statue of "the new James Bond", an obvious nod to Daniel Craig, the actor performing James Bond in the movie, Casino Royale, which was released around two weeks before this episode first aired.
  • Opal is an obvious parody of Oprah.

Goofs[]

  • Homer jettisons the excess ice cream to go faster, right after telling Rainer Wolfcastle he has none left.
  • At the beginning of the episode, Homer is seen wearing a tie, but after Max dies, Homer’s tie is missing.
  • Homer could easily given the lactose-intolerant child one of the same two-sticked popsicles he clearly just gave another child. They're non-dairy. Maybe he was out of them, though.
  • Kirk Van Houten is shown at the Divorced Dads' Visitation Jamboree, despite the fact that he and Luann previously reconciled in "Milhouse of Sand and Fog".
