- “Hello, Joe!”
- ―Mona Flanders
Mona Flanders (née Godd) is the mother of Ned Flanders and the wife of Ned's father
Mona Flanders was a beatnik, revealed when a much younger Mona and her husband were seen bringing Ned to Dr. Foster.[1] Due to her advanced age, it seems likely that Mona is now dead. Since she is so old, she is crazy. She saw Bart Simpson and said, "Col, can you help me with my thumbs?" and afterwards, she said, "Hello, Joe" to her son, Ned. However, Ned mentions that Rod and Todd do still have at least one living grandmother. It is not clear, however, if this is in reference to Mona, or to Maude's mother. Although Ned Flanders is willing to help Mona Flanders, he secretly hates her as well as his father, which he admitted when various Psychiatrists attempted to trap him in a room with Homer to get Ned to admit to any kind of anger he may have felt that led to him suppressing it due to Dr. Foster's treatment backfiring.
Added by KulhoistormFlanders once said, "Homer, you met my parents" (to which Homer replied, "Not naked I haven't", as he was naked at the time), so they are probably alive.[2]
