• In this short, Lisa's pearl necklace is red rather than white.
• This is the only appearance of the barking dog.
• This short is the first appearance of the exterior of the Simpsons' house.
• The chocolate milkshakes are pink instead of brown.
• Homer Simpson ate his milkshake with a spoon.
• When Homer Simpson said "I'll buy you all chocolate milkshakes!" to Bart, this was later referenced in Treehouse of Horror XIII when one of Homer's defomed clones said "Let's all go out for some frosty chocolate milkshakes!".
• When Bart fell down the cliff, his scream sounded a lot like Charlie Brown's scream.

Errors

• Even though Homer promised the family "Frosty chocolate milkshakes", in the ending, they were actually drinking strawberry milkshakes. However, the loss of chocolate milkshakes could be a punishment, as Homer told Bart before when he caught the football with his mouth "when I said catch I meant with your hands."
• Every time Homer throws the football, his eyes disconnect from his face for a split second then reconnects. (This was later referenced in The Simpsons Arcade Game whenever Homer gets hit by an enemy)
