David Byrne (born May 14, 1952) is a Scottish-American musician and record producer who was born in Scotland, but moved to Canada and then to the United States in his childhood. He has received Grammy, Oscar, and Golden Globe awards and been inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He was a founding member of the American band Talking Heads for which he is most associated with. His appearance on the Simpsons was as himself looking around Springfield for some songs to produce when he walked into Moe's Tavern to find Homer and the song, Everybody Hates Ned Flanders, which he produced and became an instant hit.

Trivia

• Five years after his appearance in "Dude, Where's My Ranch?", his band's song "Psycho Killer" was used in the "Treehouse of Horror XIX" segment "How to Get Ahead in Dead-vertising" during the sequence where Homer kills several celebrities.
• During the ending credits of the Season 23 episode "How I Wet Your Mother", he and Mona Simpson's voice actress, Glenn Close, performed a part of the song "Dream Operator" from Talking Heads' album True Stories.
