The Channel 4 logo, seen in this ident
The first Channel 4 'Simpsons' ident is a television ident that was introduced on July 13, 2007, this one that airs on Channel 4 in the United Kingdom.
On January 26, 2014, an edited version of the ident was used as part of the couch gag for Season 25's Specs and the City.[1]
It was replaced by a new ident on September 29, 2015, when Channel 4 rebranded.
Plot[]
Homer puts his six pack of beer on his hammock and jumps on the hammock. The beer flies into the air, landing on overhead cables. He climbs up the tree to try and retrieve it. He keeps trying to sip it, getting shocked. He hangs onto the tree until night time. He then tries again, causing power surges that appear in the shape of a 4 in an overhead view of Springfield. Occasionally, the ident was shortened, fading to the 4 being revealed, instead of the camera panning away from Homer, revealing Springfield's overhead view.
Airing[]
This occasionally aired, just before an episode of The Simpsons on Channel 4 until the channel was re-branded in September 2015 without the logo. If The Simpsons didn't succeed the logo, the continuity announcer normally announced what time viewers can watch said show on Channel 4.
Idents from November 5, 2004 with 'Moving Bars'[]
- Homer (in his overalls) seen trying to catch a holographic 4 logo surrounded by flickers of street lights. After he somersaults and says, "Ohh, where are you?" he wanders off into the lights. Afterwards, the 4 logo fades in in its native position, until Homer leaps in from the right. At this point, the 4 cuts out, Homer lands on his face, and the 4, along with the url, fades in again.
- Homer running in the live-action woods, until he hides behind a tree at some point, before resuming running.
- Maggie being tugged back on a white line surrounded by flickers of white-tubed lights.
- Bart punching and kicking three logos out of the field and kicks another one to its native place in front of a pulsating violet background. As Bart kicks the last logo, Homer, off-screen, calls, "Get 'em, boy!"
- Snowball II, Milhouse, Bart, Maggie and Homer in his overalls are seen falling, along with the Duff Blimp flying, in front of vapor trails. The 4 logo and url are revealed after Homer falls off-screen, before the Duff Blimp flies into view.
