Fidel Alejandro Castro Ruz (August 13, 1926 – November 25, 2016) was the former Communist President of Cuba. He stole the trillion-dollar bill from Mr. Burns to solve his country's financial crisis.

History[]

Castro informs his comrades that Cuba will have to abandon Communism because the country is completely bankrupt. He prepares to phone the Americans to tell them they have won, even though they tried to kill him, which he believes is not so bad because they named a street after him in San Francisco, although he is appalled to discover that the street is homosexual-only. However, Homer, Mr. Burns, and Smithers arrive and Mr. Burns tries to buy Cuba with a trillion-dollar bill. Although it is not for sale, Burns asks to live on the island instead. Castro asks to see the trillion-dollar bill and after persuasion from Homer, Mr. Burns lets him see it, only for Castro to steal it before forcing the three to leave.[1]

Behind the laughter[]

  • The real Fidel Castro stepped down as Cuban leader in 2008, succeeded by his brother, Raul Castro. On November 25, 2016, he passed away at age 90.
  • When Castro claims Cuba is broke, this is completely accurate, as the United States Embargo on Cuba destroyed their economy, the quality of their social services not withstanding.
  • Castro's disapproval of a street named after him being homosexual-only is a reference to his homophobia early on in his tenure as president, however the real Castro in 1979 apologized for his past behavior towards LGBT people.
