Tapped Out Skinny Palmer

Defonzo Palmer is a jazz player, trumpeter, who appears in the 2nd episode of the 18th season. He and his friends frequent Jazzy Goodtime's, an establishment for musical performances (jazz preferred), in addition to serving meals. Lisa already knew that Defonzo was a jazz professional and always dreamed that one day his talent in the saxophone would be noticed by him, but Defonzo only went to talk to her the day he saw Bart playing the drums.

Defonzo and his friend "Marbles" Le Marquez call Bart for an "impromptu" with them and, impressed by the boy's beat, invite him to the Skinny Palmer Trio. The group is so successful that Bart even appears on magazine covers. Days later, Bart takes his jazz friends for a smoke in the attic, but Lisa had already filled the place with several animals she "adopted" from the streets of Springfield, including a tiger cub, "Buttercup". Defonzo becomes unbalanced by leaning on a stack of cardboard boxes; the tiger, which was on the boxes, falls close to Bart and bites his right arm several times. At the hospital, Dr. Hibbert warns that Bart will never play the drums again. When Bart leaves the hospital, he returns to Jazzy Goodtime's to show that he can continue with the trio (he even got a 3rd arm). Defonzo and Marcus, who were rehearsing, were touched by Bart's perseverance, but that way there was no way; unless, perhaps, if the boy had undergone arthroscopic microsurgery. Bart says that such surgery is very expensive, $ 78,000. But musicians know that with a charity show they get that money. The show takes place but Bart, to everyone's surprise, donates the money to build a shelter for abandoned animals; at the end of the episode, Defonzo and Marcus have the idea of doing (another) benefit show and Defonzo asks if he is still married to Marcus's sister, but his ex-brother-in-law says she has already died.
