Trivia[]
- In this episode, it is shown that Krusty the Clown lives at 534 Center Street.
- In an earlier episode Moe was shown to be afraid of Principal Skinner (possibly due to his authority), but in this episode Moe appears to have over come his fear by punching Seymour.
- This is Dr. Marvin Monroe's second-to-last appearance, followed by "Diatribe of a Mad Housewife".
- Ralph's "I bit my tongue" quote is used again in The Simpsons: Hit & Run.
- Lisa recalls various times Marge has been less than fun. This montage includes the following instances:
- Marge wishing that Homer had called her during his time in Spittle County in "Colonel Homer"
- Marge urging Homer not to play the lottery in their time of monetary struggles in "Dog of Death"
- Marge scolding Bart's language in "Dog of Death"
- Marge prohibiting Homer from performing an operation on Santa's Little Helper in "Dog of Death"
- Marge sighing in multiple episodes (including but not limited to "Homer the Heretic", "Homer Defined" and "Bart vs. Thanksgiving")
Citations[]
- The scene with a field full of injured children from the trampoline is a reference to the field of injured soldiers shot in the 1939 film Gone with the Wind. It's also a possible reference to the street of dying Russian protesters in the film Doctor Zhivago.
- There is a sequence of Homer trying to push the trampoline off a cliff, but once pushes it over the edge and it falls down, it lands on a pillar of rock and bounces back up. This is a reference to the Chuck Jones-directed Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner Looney Tunes cartoons. The background imitates the desert landscape from the cartoons.
- At church, Reverend Lovejoy plays the classic rag The Entertainer by Scott Joplin on the organ.
Goofs[]
- Immediately after Krusty mentions phasing out his tumbling acts in favor of dirty limericks, the trampoline appears to be brown instead of green.
- At night, Homer and Marge listen to some kids jumping on Homer's car. Marge then sits on the bed naked, but when the camera zooms to her face, a little portion of her nightgown is seen on her neck. The close-up of Marge in a nightgown was recycled footage from "Colonel Homer." The Simpsons episodes from Seasons 2 to 6 always used recycled footage to save time and money.
- Homer jumps near Bart's open window, but when Bart comes out, the window is closed.
- In the scene of Jimbo and Kearney using Homer's car as a trampoline, the closed captioning has Kearney misidentified as Dolph.
- When Homer said Name one thing you've done in the past month that was fun, the footage from "Homer vs. Lisa and the 8th Commandment" was used.
- Wendell's hair is yellow instead of its normal white color.
