  • The title of the episode refers to an earlier Simpsons episode: "Bart Gets an "F"". This title would be later reused for other episodes.

  • When Santa's Little Helper is chewing on the remote changing the channels, Kent Brockman is shown talking about a woman hunt is out with a picture of Lucille Botzcowski, showing that she is still on the run after "Some Enchanted Evening".
  • Another clip during Santa's Little Helper's channel-surfing shows Troy McClure hosting "I Can't Believe They Invented It!" but without Phil Hartman's voice.
  • This is the first time Santa's Little Helper eats a bug, the second being "American History X-cellent."
  • Lisa wears a blue shirt instead of her usual orange one and (if you listen closly) her voice is a a teeny weeny bit different when she has the mumps.
  • When Marge and Lisa touch their fingers together, It'll probably remind you of the movie poster of E.T. the extra-terrestrial and you hear the theme song in the background.
  • In the end, it says that Santa's Little Helper bit Bart but Homer didn't mind. This incident actually happens in the episode Stop or My Dog Will Shoot! but they make a huge deal about it.
