	Ralph is quite an enigma of a child. Upon first glance, one might mistake him for a child with dementia; or perhaps they might even look at him as a mentally challenged child. Throughout the course of the show however, there have been many hints dropped over the true nature of his character. What is definite however, is that he suffers from learning disabilities of some sort, as evidenced by his apparently slow grasp of things in the world around him, his difficulty in studying, and his sporadic speech impediments. His unique manner of speech is often the source of the character's trademark random quotes, where Ralph may make a comment such as "What's a battle?", "It tastes like...burning!", or "[[Ned Flanders\|Mr. Flanders]], you're blindeded!," as well as his tendency to call his [[Elizabeth Hoover\|teacher]] "School Mommy" and on one occasion calling [[Superintendent Chalmers]] "Super Nintendo Chalmers." Meanwhile, the superviser of Homer's plant leaves, and is replaced by Carl. Homer becomes Carl's assistant, becoming overworked and ignoring Marge. While Homer leaves for Paris, Marge invites Ned over to apologize for knocking him out accidentally. Marge and Ned nearly kiss, until Marge sees her wedding picture and realizes it is wrong. Back at the plant, Carl makes Homer his new executive assistant. That evening, Marge's libido--pumped up by the whole town's positive feedback on her calendar--is running high, but Homer is too overworked and exhausted to satisfy her. This becomes an unhappy trend, and Marge feels ignored. Homer tries to make up for it by taking Marge out to a fancy hotel for a special night, but they are interrupted again by a phone call from Carl, informing Homer that the two of them will be attending the Annual Nuclear Power Expo in Paris. Homer leaves the next morning, and a frustrated Marge throws a croquet mallet after his retreating cab. She accidentally knocks out [[Ned Flanders]] instead, and invites the Flanderses over for a family dinner by way of apology. In Paris, Carl is having a great time flirting with a beautiful Frenchwoman, and he reveals that he plans to extend their stay indefinitely. Homer is devastated, and walks forlornly through Parisian streets where everything reminds him of Marge. Back in [[Springfield]], [[Bart]] and [[Lisa]] bail on Marge's dinner, and Ned also shows up alone, explaining that he has grounded [[Rod and Todd Flanders\|Rod and Todd]]. The innocent dinner soon turns romantic, and Marge and Ned nearly kiss--until Marge catches sight of her wedding photo in Ned's glasses and realizes that it would be wrong. Homer, meanwhile, has forced Carl to give him his old job back by revealing that the woman Carl has been flirting with is actually Carla Bruni, wife of French President Nicholas Sarkozy, and threatening to tell Sarkozy everything. Homer arrives home just as Marge is bidding Ned goodnight, and the two of them retire to their bedroom, undisturbed at last.

Thinking her content with her new life, Bart reveals that it was he who spiked Krabappel's coffee, but that no harm has come of it as she is living her dream. Krabappel replies that he has ruined her life as her dream was always to be a teacher. Resolving to get Zack fired so that Krabappel can return to work, Bart sneaks into the school with the intention of spiking Zack's [[Blue Bronco Energy Drink]]. He instead has a last minute change of heart and tells Skinner the truth so that Krabappel will be reinstated. Skinner, however, tells Bart that he can't fire a good teacher (or even just a competent one, or even one that just shows up) for no reason. Just then, they overhear someone in the hallway shouting about how much he hates children. It is revealed that Zachary Vaughn has been spiking his own Blue Bronco just to get through the day, and he is dragged away by [[Groundskeeper Willie]] all the while drunkenly disparaging the school's bureaucracy and students. Krabappel reveals that her dream was to be a teacher, and not the owner of a muffin store. Bart decides that he should get Vaughn fired so that Krabappel can get her job back. He attempts to put booze in his Blue Bronco, but ends up telling Skinner the truth instead.
